Some functional GI disorders are quite common, but others, like Hirschsprung's Disease (HD), Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome (CVS), and Short Bowel Syndrome (SBS) are rare. It can be hard to find doctors to recognize and treat these disorders, and harder to find others who understand living with them.

Continued clinical and basic research is needed before these diseases are fully understood, and improved treatments or ultimately a cure found.
